Examples of nonlinear MIP formulations (in objective or constraint) that can be handled well by commercial solver without explicit linearization?

MIP or continuous? And did you intend to ask for NLP problems that solves better without linearization tricks? The current question seems to suggest that commercial solvers runs poorly on any type of nonlinear problem and that you are seeking examples where they are not garbage. – Henrik A. Friberg Apr 4 '19 at 7:09

Where can I find benchmark MILP formulations with data to compare myself different solver packages e.g. CPLEX, GUROBI, Coin-OR?

Could be more specific. “Easiest way to determine the best solver for my optimization problems?” or “Where can I find [insert problem type, e.g., portfolio optimization] instances that are suitable for benchmarking solvers”. – Henrik A. Friberg Apr 4 '19 at 20:40
I beg to differ here because I tried to frame this question for someone evaluating solver to buy. In such case you will have set of problems like some LPs, some MILP and may be some MINLP etc. to check. In such case this data/problem dictionary will help. I haven't done such analysis exhaustively but I cannot deny hardware aspect here, which can make solution time differing from what is reported on comparison benchmark. For data science google now natively support finding dataset but for OR it take more effort to search such cases. – abhiieor Apr 5 '19 at 8:30
Though updated sample with benchmark in my question to make it more specific. – abhiieor Apr 5 '19 at 8:31
We agree that the question is for "someone evaluating which solver to buy".. But typically you have an idea of what type of problems you are interested in, and this is important since the solvers may perform poorly on some problem type and be superior on another. So I still recommend that you are more specific to get a proper answer. – Henrik A. Friberg Apr 5 '19 at 9:11
Perhaps split you question into two: One where you are looking for benchmark problems of some kind, and another where you are looking for easy ways to compare multiple solvers on some problem collection. – Henrik A. Friberg Apr 5 '19 at 9:13

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form.

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion.

Downvoting this question because guidelines say we should "Avoid asking questions that are subjective, argumentative, or require extended discussion. Stack Exchange does not work well with questions like 'Which is the best…'". area51.stackexchange.com/faq. Maybe reword to something like "Which Java libraries implement tools for agent-based simulation?" – LarrySnyder610 Apr 2 '19 at 2:40

I'm familiar with the SE guidelines, but I would hate to discourage users by being overly enthusiastic about supporting them. – prubin Apr 2 '19 at 15:07
