	This is a tricky one. Might be closed real early in the true website because it's subjective. I'm marking on topic, but with "remarks". A better question would be: "What is the best database extension to determine great circle distance between two points?" – George Jun 2 '10 at 11:42

I disagree. I do GIS analysis using ogr, and thus GIS and programming are practicaly the same activity. GIS programming questions (i.e. specific to GIS libraries such as GDAL) should be welcome – fmark Jun 7 '10 at 11:48
