I disagree with the majority here! If this site gets approved it will be a rare opportunity to explore these types of questions with a great group of contributors. This site will be a boom for SQA and SW Quality Engineering and needs to allow people to ask deep probing questions. Yes, this questions is broad and may not be that deep, but it should be asked, answered, and thought about continuously. – John Burley Jul 15 '10 at 14:50

@John Burley This site proposal is certainly a great opportunity to explore those questions. This question in particular is a question that will be too subjective and is not really grounded to any specific area of testing. I would be fine with a subjective question like "What is the best way to test scenario x". – Steve Hook Jul 15 '10 at 17:56

My gut reaction is off-topic, simply because it's the kind of question with a situational answer. It represents that "It depends" group of questions. * IMO this site would be best served as a "Here's my very narrow testing problem, and here's what I'm doing to solve it. What am I doing wrong? 	I really meant something like: What are software antipatterns and how can I detect them during a software quality review? Aren't developers people who can't cut it as QA? If they could test effectively, why do they check-in code with bugs? But seriously, I'm not even sure this is even a question. It appears to me to be argumentative and looking for a flame war. – Adam Porad Jul 23 '10 at 15:56

Yup, it's flame-bait. Of course I disagree with the implied statement; I was simply putting this up as an example.
