@Mark - Are these sample questions or are these questions that are supposed to be in only one place? – Citizen Jul 6 '15 at 16:04
Please note that the fact that a question is on-topic somewhere else does not make it off-topic here, unless we explicitly decide that. – Kira Oct 26 '15 at 16:36

Is a question that betrays a fundamental misunderstanding still a good question? – Mark Jun 12 '15 at 2:06

If rephrased as "how can I get a .onion domain" it's salvageable – rath Jun 17 '15 at 10:43

This site is bound to get questions that misunderstand what the deep web is. I think it would be unfair to say they are off topic because it seems like there is some sort of "initiation" to being able to participate in the site. – Jacob Swanson Sep 5 '15 at 5:03
1
A agree with Mr. Swanson, due to its inherent mystery, a site of this nature is bound to be filled with people who don't fully understand the Deep Web...and people seeking to use the Deep Web for nefarious purposes (i.e. questions like, "Is the Deep Web really illegal?). – Michelfrancis Bustillos Nov 16 '15 at 5:33

(+1) I propose you rephrase this to "What are the risks of adding your computer to the network" since some degree of risk is inevitable – rath Sep 16 '15 at 4:08
I think this question would be more ontopic on Tor.SE than here as it isn't really about the deepweb in general, just tor. – OldBunny2800 Feb 3 '16 at 4:20

That's a very broad question. It's fine for chapter 1 of "Deep Web For Dummies" but surely not fit for a Stack Exchange site? Without knowing who you are and/or what you do, how can we answer why you should do anything? ...I'd suggest rephrasing to something less subjective, like "what does the deep web offer that the surface web doesn't?" – Doug McLean Dec 15 '15 at 10:23

@RobertCartaino: First, you duped a dupe, and second, the duped dupe was posted after this one. What gives? – OldBunny2800 Jan 20 '16 at 2:00

We're trying to define the scope of the site by example. The clearer, better-stated example gets left open. – Robert Cartaino Jan 20 '16 at 14:55

Ultimately, What's the difference between the Surface Web, Deep Web, and the Dark Web? was the winner, and that one was posted first, so that's fair enough in my book. Maybe this question should have been marked as a duplicate of that one? – Doug McLean Jan 21 '16 at 12:32

added by bandrade Feb 25 '16 at 18:32

I know it is difficult (if not impossible) to evaluate its full extent. I am asking about statistics covering this subject, e.g. statistical studies, even if covering only a small portion. It could be a matter of amount of information (whether stored or transfered), number of physical devices, or any other measure. – bandrade Feb 25 '16 at 18:36

What real time tor chat services are available and how can connect to them?
added by Citizen Jun 16 '15 at 8:01

This is not really deep web because chat is not a typical web-based service. – Philipp Jun 17 '15 at 11:12

I"ve always seen "Deep Web" as generic term and not necessarily associated with http. More of a suite of services that are associated with obfuscation with tor. As well, there are real time chat services via tor that are offered through http. I think limiting 'Deep Web" to only http services is a mistake IMO. – Citizen Jun 17 '15 at 18:07
