Hinduism: Why is there a different god for everything, like lord Vishnu for operating, lord Shiv for destroying? @Chris O, that can be done in a good way when we have more space for question. For now, when previous comments are deleted, I can say in comments that i just asked the same question as you suggested. :) |

Hinduism: What does a ShivLing represent? I think adding "why do we worship ShivLing" to question will make this a better question. |

Hinduism: What are the actual teachings of MAHABHARTA? As the story seems to be about the life of Pandvas. do we read Mahabharat?- yes we do, i have seen Mahabharat even written in Urdu and one i have seen is so old, if you just hold its paper, it normally tears apart. It has record about the count of persons every Raja has in its army who participated in Mahabharat and also who was killed with which weapon. It even has a photograph of Chakarvayuh, that you can't even figure out to solve on paper. So, i think yes we do read Mahabharat and if you don't then you need to find the correct copy of it. |

Hinduism: What are the actual teachings of MAHABHARTA? As the story seems to be about the life of Pandvas. Even if you take out "holy book" from question, what i am asking actually is why do we read MAHABHARTA? what are the teachings behind it, and i think same can be applied to RAMAYANA, what are the teachings of RAMAYANA? |

Hinduism: How is Karma in Hinduism different than the generic philosophical concept of fate? Lot of room for personal opinion will always be there, because most of times, in case of HINDUISM what people believe are the stories heard from there elders. It is because there are so many gospels related to religion. You will rarely find a person who has read most of these books and if you are talking about VEDAS, they are rarely found these days what originally was written, but we only find interpretations of them by others. This is one of the main reason for most of personal opinions. |

Hinduism: How is Karma in Hinduism different than the generic philosophical concept of fate? @Caleb You can easily find the proper definition of Karma in Bhagwat Gita and similarly the definition of fate can also be found, the question is interesting from my point of view and many possible answers will be there because of everyone's personal thinking about these things. Although, i assure you that you will be able to find a good answer with proper reference once this site goes around. In my opinion you don't need to narrow this down, you just need to wait for an answer with proper explanation and reference and THERE IS ONE :) |

It is used by many countries. But what is its first origin? @Ankit Sharma, agree with you, possible and with rigid proofs. |
